Fox to produce dating show for average Americans

Fox is producing a dating show for average-looking, overweight people called “More to Love,” Hollywood Reporter is reporting.

The idea for the show was inspired by the success of “The Bachelor” and “The Biggest Loser,” which proved that viewers will watch shows that don’t feature beautiful people.  “More” is being cast and doesn’t have an air date.

“Most of the country isn’t a size 2,” a producer said. “We want to send the message that you can be the size you are and still be lovable.”

The premise sounds laudable, but this is Fox, which has given us gems such as “Temptation Island” and “Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire.”  I hope this show doesn’t devolve into the dating equivalent of “Fear Factor.”

I wonder if they’ll produce this show like some of the old TV game shows — like “The Dating Game.”  Or even “Let’s Make a Deal.”
