The Wizards announced this evening that they will hold their first preseason game of the fall on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, the site of the team’s training camp for six years running.
The game will take place on Tuesday, Oct 6 at 7 p.m. at the Siegle Center. The game will take the place of the annual intrasquad scrimmage that the Wizards usually hold at the conclusion of training camp.
“We’ve enjoyed the first-class facilities and hospitality at the Siegel Center over the last five years, so we’re very excited to return for training camp and officially begin the preseason there this year,” Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement released by the team. “The preseason game will be a great way for us to conclude camp and give our fans in the Richmond area the chance to see the beginning of this new era of Wizards basketball.”
A complete preseason schedule, as well as the dates for training camp, will be released within the next few days. It’s likely that training camp will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
