Bush first sitting president to skip convention since LBJ

The White House announced this morning that President Bush won’t attend the Republican National Convention, making him the first sitting president to skip a convention since President Johnson did it in 1968.

In 1968, LBJ chose not to attend after he decided not to run for reelection.
