Bill Burton, who was a chief spokesman for the Obama campaign, was given a tour of the White House press working area Thursday by White House deputy press secretary Tony Fratto.

Mr. Fratto took Mr. Burton, who is expected to fill a role similar to Mr. Fratto’s, through the press pen and introduced him to all of the TV and print reporters working inside the White House.

As Mr. Fratto spoke briefly with an ABC producer, he joked that President Bush would announce the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian peace issue in a speech Friday.

“Oh you guys have got that taken care of?” Mr. Burton quipped, in mock relief.
