President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush on Monday afternoon left the White House to visit Tony Snow’s widow, Jill, at her Northern Virginia home.
Mr. Snow, Mr. Bush’s third press secretary, who served from 2006 to 2007, died early Saturday morning of abdominal cancer. He is survived by his wife and three children, Kendall, Robbie, and Kristi, who are all between 10 and 15.
The president has shown considerable grief at Mr. Snow’s passing. He issued a statement Saturday morning, and then spoke to reporters briefly on Sunday after returning to the White House from his Camp David retreat.
Mr. Bush will attend and may also speak at his former press secretary’s funeral on Thursday, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Immaculate Conception, at Catholic University. The White House on Monday said such details are still being worked out.
