The White House on Tuesday disputed reports that a U.S. military aircraft unintentionally entered Iranian airspace and was forced to land before being allowed to leave.

“We’re looking into the various and conflicting reports coming from the Iranian ‘news’ agencies, but do not have any information at this time that would lead us to believe they are correct,” said White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe.

The semi-official Iranian Fars News Agency reported that after detaining five U.S. military officials for a day, they were released once Iranian officials deemed they had not entered Iran’s airspace intentionally, Reuters said.

The Pentagon has also denied that one of their planes went missing.
