All eyes will be on President Bush’s meeting with John McCain, Barack Obama and congressional leaders today at 4 p.m., but this is an otherwise weighty and busy day, even without attempts to avoid a financial collapse.
Mr. Bush has already met this morning with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, and at 1:15 p.m. will host Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
After the high-profile economy meeting at 4, Mr. Bush has another important meeting, with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The prime minister is in the U.S. to push Congress to pass a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement. Mr. Bush also meets Friday morning with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
