President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, will visit with senior Senate lawmakers on Tuesday, the White House said Friday.
Sotomayor, a U.S. Court of Appeals judge for the 2nd Circuit, will meet with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, Vermont Democrat, the committee’s ranking member, Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, and possibly Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican.
“We are hopeful that other visits can be scheduled for that Tuesday and the remainder of the week,” said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.
The questionnairre that Sotomayor is filling out for the Judiciary Committee will be completed at some point in the week and will be made available to the press, Gibbs said.
