Kicker Graham Gano is expected to play in the Redskins’ preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts on Friday night, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.
Gano left practice early on Wednesday to attend the birth of his first child, a son. The Redskins were unsure if he would travel with the team to Indianapolis on Thursday, but he did.
Gano could not be reached for comment.
Washington signed free agent kicker Clint Stitser on Wednesday afternoon to fill in for Gano in case he did not make the trip. Stitser still could play Friday and compete with him for the rest of the preseason.
Gano made all three of his field goal attempts in last week’s victory over Pittsburgh, and he kicked all five of his kickoffs through the end zone for touchbacks.
