The Redskins recognized their best players from 2010 and their community service leader at the 50th annual Welcome Home Luncheon on Wednesday at a D.C. hotel.

Linebacker Brian Orakpo was the defensive player of the year. Receiver Santana Moss won the award on offense, and Lorenzo Alexander won it for special teams.

Linebacker London Fletcher won the inaugural community service award.

“It’s not about me, it’s about helping people,” Fletcher said. “I know that I wouldn’t be here without the help of others.”

Orakpo cracked up the crowd during his acceptance speech.

“London, I’m sorry,” he said to his veteran teammate before turning to the crowd. “London has won the award the last 20 years.”

A highlight of the event always is seeing how players dress up. LaRon Landry ragged on Kareem Moore’s seersucker suit, but I’ve got to say that Kareem got my stamp of approval. Still, he took home the renowned Dead Man Suit award for worst suit. Again, I disagree.

The event also featured an auction that benefited the Redskins Charitable Foundation.
