The Redskins on Tuesday are expected to re-sign defensive end Darrion Scott to take the roster spot of Kedric Golston, who will be placed on the season-ending injured reserve list, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
The Redskins would not confirm the move.
Golston fully tore the MCL and partially tore the ACL in one of his knees during Sunday’s loss to Miami, coach Mike Shanahan said. He was having a strong season as a reserve in the defensive line rotation after losing his starting job in the offseason. He had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in eight games.
Scott was waived last Tuesday after being inactive for the first eight games of the season. The Redskins signed former first-round pick Ketwan Balmer when they waived Scott, so it’s unclear how much Scott will play upon his return.
The Redskins also are expected to put receiver Leonard Hankerson (hip labrum tear) on injured reserve Tuesday, but the corresponding roster move is not yet known.
