The Redskins drafted Southern Methodist left guard Josh LeRibeus after trading down two spots with Buffalo to No. 71. Washington also acquired a seventh-round pick, No. 217 overall.

Here are scouting reports on LeRibeus from Pro Football Weekly and ESPN Scouts Inc. Not exactly high praise. The Sporting News offers more reasons for optimism.

He ran a 5.37-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, which is slower than the prototype for a Mike Shanahan lineman.

LeRibeus started all 13 games last season and in 2009. He missed 2010 because he was academically ineligible.

Incumbent left guard Kory Lichtensteiger is coming back from an extremely serious right knee injury. He tore the ACL, MCL, medial meniscus and lateral meniscus. LeRibeus could push Lichtensteiger, or this selection could affect center Will Montgomery because Lichtensteiger also can play that position.
