Cornerback Josh Wilson succeeded running back Clinton Portis at No. 26 for the Washington Redskins. And with Portis scheduled to announce his retirement Thursday at a news conference at Redskins Park, Wilson wants to make a deal.

“If he wanted to buy his jersey back, his number is available if he wanted to buy that,” Wilson said laughing. He made a lot of money here. I know he still has a lot. This is my second year. I’m starting. It’s going to cost him a nice bit!”

“C.P., if you’re listening, talk to me, man. I heard [the news conference] is at 2:30. We can talk at 2. It’s all good. I’m willing to sacrifice it.”

Wilson did play against Portis during Portis’ seven seasons with the Redskins.

“He did have some great years here,” Wilson said. “I’m glad he’s getting honored to be able to retire and have a good standing with the team.”
