That running back Roy Helu Jr. will miss the Washington Redskins’ first home preseason game Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts was not much of a surprise. But Evan Royster will, too.
Royster is out with a sore right knee that flared up on him Wednesday.
“I’m not sure what happened,” Shanahan said Thursday. “He said it didn’t bother him at all in practice and he got up and it bothered him. That’s why he wasn’t able to go yesterday. Not really sure what it was, but it’s quite sore.”
Royster, who is on anti-inflammatory medication, said an MRI taken Wednesday on the knee was negative.
The Penn State product said he hasn’t had knee problems before.
“To tell you the truth, I probably just cut a little too hard and caused some irritation,” he said. “It’s nothing serious.”
