X-rays on Anthony Armstrong’s injured right shoulder did not show a fracture, so the wide receiver hopes to be ready for the Redskins’ preseason opener on Thursday at Buffalo.

“My goal is to play,” Armstrong said.

He acknowledged the wisdom in a cautious approach, though, because it is early in the season and three preseason games remain after Thursday’s.

Armstrong injured the AC joint when he was tackled while leaping to attempt a catch during team drills on Thursday. He is involved in an intense battle for one of the receiver spots near the bottom of the depth chart.
