CLEVELAND | Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. That was expected once the Redskins announced Saturday night that rookie backup Kirk Cousins would start because of Griffin’s mildly sprained right knee.
Griffin practicing throwing and rolling out on the field about two and a half hours before the game. Head athletic trainer Larry Hess and general manager Bruce Allen were among the team officials that watched from close range.
Receiver Brandon Banks is inactive for the second straight week. Punt returner Richard Crawford battled a mild hamstring injury during the week.
Washington’s other inactives are receiver Dez Briscoe, linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy, rookie offensive linemen Josh LeRibeus, Adam Gettis and Tom Compton.
