MOBILE, Ala. | The Redskins’ coaching staff completed its week at the Senior Bowl with a 23-13 loss Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Memorial Stadium.

“It’s been a great week,” coach Mike Shanahan said moments after his South team fell to the North squad coached by the Minnesota Vikings. “We had a chance to evaluate a lot of players and get a chance to be around them. Very positive.”

Saturday’s loss - a product of three interceptions (two by Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden) and one lost fumble - was an afterthought for a staff that got a detailed, first-hand look at more than 100 draft prospects.

“What you do is you’re able to eliminate people,” Shanahan said. “That really helps as well. You’ve got to go back and really study the film, but the few people that you eliminate saves you a lot of time. There’s some great feelings through the week when you get somebody that’s really passionate with a great attitude. That’s at least what you look for in a person.”

As for the game itself, I’ll have more on the prospects early next week. For now, here’s the game recap and notes, courtesy of the Mobile Press-Register.
