Redskins strong safety Brandon Meriweather received a 180-day suspended jail sentence on July 19 after pleading no contest in Arlington County to a reduced charge of reckless driving, court documents show.

He had been charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on April 26. Meriweather refused an alcohol breath test that night.

Meriweather’s driver’s license was suspended for 60 days, and he was fined $300 in addition to $81 in court costs.

Meriweather signed a two-year, $6 million, free-agent contract in March. The 2009 and 2010 Pro Bowler is expected to replace departed strong safety LaRon Landry on the first string.
