The Redskins continued their push to fortify their secondary Friday by signing former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin.

Griffin played had 81 tackles, one interception, three forced fumbles and 11 passes defensed in 16 games (14 starts) last season. He signed a one-year deal worth $2.5 million, according to multiple reports.

Griffin, 29, tore the ACL in each of his knees during the 2010 calendar year. His return from those injuries helped him earn the Vikings’ Ed Block Courage award in 2011.

Minnesota released him last Saturday along with two other veterans. Griffin was benched during the final stages of 2011.

He was a member of the University of Texas national championship team in 2005.
