PALM BEACH, Fla. | Owners voted to affirm the salary cap penalties against the Redskins and Dallas on Tuesday, according to a Washington Post report. The vote reportedly was 29-0, with Tampa Bay abstaining and the Redskins and Cowboys excluded.
The penalties took effect on Mar. 13, and Tuesday’s vote had no effect on them. But it shows owners are united entering the league’s arbitration hearing against Washington and Dallas. If ownership’s support was fractured, it could hurt the league’s case in the eyes of arbitrator Stephen Burbank.
No date has been set for the hearing.
The Redskins were penalized $36 million in salary cap space, with $18 million applied to 2012 and the other half to 2013. Dallas was penalized a total of $10 million.
