Rookie quarterback Nick Foles is expected to start against the Redskins on Sunday in place of quarterback Michael Vick, who suffered a “pretty significant” concussion during the Eagles’ loss to Dallas last Sunday, according to Philadelphia coach Andy Reid.
Redskins coaches have a head start in preparing to defend Foles because he played for their South team at the Senior Bowl in January.
“He’s big,” Shanahan said. “He’s 6-5, very strong; arm strength. He’s been in a shotgun formation. He looks like he reads defenses very easily and can make all the throws.”
The Eagles drafted Foles in the third round out of the University of Arizona. He was 22 of 32 passing against Dallas for 219 yards, a touchdown, an interception that was returned for a touchdown, and a lost fumble.
