Robert Griffin III will start Sunday for the Washington Redskins as expected, but he won’t have the receiver who was brought in to be his most effective target.
Pierre Garcon was made inactive for the Redskins’ game vs. the Minnesota Vikings, still bothered by a right foot injury. Garcon worked out on the field before inactives had to be submitted and appeared to be in pain while running.
He suffered the injury in Week 1 at the New Orleans Saints on an 88-yard touchdown pass from Griffin. He missed two games but played at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
Griffin, who suffered a “mild” concussion in last week’s loss to the Falcons, practiced during the week and is starting as expected. He has reported no symptoms since 15 minutes after the hit that forced him out of the game.
Both players were listed as questionable on the Redskins’ official injury report.
Also inactive for the Redskins were quarterback Rex Grossman, cornerback Cedric Griffin, guards Josh LeRibeus and Adam Gettis, safety Brandon Meriweather and defensive end Doug Worthington.
