Redskins injury updates (10/18): Pierre Garcon 'long shot' to play at Giants

Pierre Garcon is a “long shot” to play for the Washington Redskins on Sunday at the New York Giants, coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday.

The wide receiver, who is dealing with a nagging right foot injury, did not even attend practice.

“We felt maybe it was a little bit better that he came off his feet today. He was getting treatment inside,” Shanahan said. “He’ll do the same thing tomorrow.”

If Garcon does not practice Friday, it’s unlikely that he’ll be ready for Sunday’s NFC East opener.

Safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) was out again. Cornerback David Jones (Achilles) missed practice.

Fullback Darrel Young (hamstring), punter Sav Rocca (right knee), cornerback Cedric Griffin (hamstring), cornerback DeAngelo Hall (knee), safety Jordan Pugh (head) and defensive end Doug Worthington (calf) were limited.

Nose tackle Barry Cofield (shoulder) and tight Fred Davis (knee) had full participation.
