Running back Ryan Grant is on the Redskins’ active gameday roster their Sunday afternoon matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Grant signed with the Redskins on Sept. 26 and was inactive last week against Tampa Bay.
Grant, 29, is expected to help back up rookie running back Alfred Morris. Grant rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2008 and 2009 with the Green Bay Packers.
Grant is familiar with the zone running game from his early years in Green Bay. But the Redskins’ offense does feature a major difference.
“This offense starts with the run, which is different from what I’m used to,” Grant said with a laugh Thursday. “I don’t think any running back would be opposed to that.”
Morris is averaging 4.6 yards per carry. The sixth-round pick has four touchdowns and 376 yards through four games.
Receiver Dezmon Briscoe is inactive for the first time this season. He does not have a reception.
Outside linebacker Markus White is inactive, as are rookie offensive linemen Adam Gettis and Josh LeRibeus.
Quarterback Rex Grossman is inactive for the fifth straight game.
Safety Brandon Meriweather (left knee) and cornerback Cedric Griffin (hamstring) are out, as expected.
