Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon’s right foot injury likely will keep him out for the second straight game, coach Mike Shanahan said Friday afternoon. Garcon was not able to fully participate in practice this week ahead of Sunday’s home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Pierre is doubtful,” Shanahan said. “He went through drill work, still a little sore, but he didn’t take any reps in team so unless he can go before the game, we’ll list him there.”
At this point, Shanahan is uncertain of when Garcon will be able to resume playing.
“He either can do it or he can’t,” Shanahan said. “He pushed pretty hard today. He was just a little bit too sore. He got some good work in early. But until it gets good enough to go, there’s always that question mark.”
Garcon declined to answer reporters’ questions.
Cornerback Josh Wilson (concussion) is probable for Sunday’s game.
Safety Brandon Meriweather (sprained left knee) was limited in practice and is questionable for the game. He was injured in practice on Sept. 3, and the timeline for his recovery given at that time was two to four weeks.
