Tight end Fred Davis was on pace to lead the Redskins in receptions and receiving yards when he was suspended for the final four games of the 2011 season. He still finished with solid numbers: 59 receptions for 796 yards and three touchdowns.

Fast forward to this preseason, when Davis had only two receptions for 16 yards. He isn’t stressing that light workload because he caught only three passes during the 2011 preseason.

“I feel pretty good,” Davis said this week. “These last couple weeks I’ve been getting a lot more work in, so I feel more  confident in that area.”

Davis was designated as the Redskins’ franchise player, so he’s playing for a new contract.
