Washington’s 16 opponents this season already are known. Thursday’s announcement will publicize dates and times for those games.

The Redskins will host Dallas, New York Giants, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Kansas City and San Diego.

They will travel to play Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Minnesota, Atlanta, Denver and Oakland.

Expect Washington’s prime time games to be scheduled for later in the season because the league wants to ensure Robert Griffin III is back from his knee injury and attracting viewers.

Mike Shanahan’s return to Denver and a matchup between Griffin and Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning seems like an obvious choice for national TV. I also would not be surprised if the Redskins play the Thanksgiving Night game, but the league might choose to showcase other teams on Thanksgiving after the Redskins played at Dallas on that holiday last season.
