Former Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington will announce Washington’s second- and third-round picks live at Radio City Music Hall in New York next Friday, the league announced.
Each NFL team will have an alumnus announce its second- and third-round picks as part of a program that began in 2011. Arrington’s inclusion is the latest indication his relationship with the Redskins has mended.
He departed the club somewhat acrimoniously following the 2005 season. After a contract dispute two years before that, he fell out of favor with coach Joe Gibbs’ staff. Also, Arrington co-hosts an afternoon talk radio show in the D.C. area on 106.7 The Fan and is sometimes critical of the team in that forum.
However, the team last year added Arrington and nine other alumni to its list of greatest players. They were honored at Washington’s homecoming game, a loss to Carolina in November.
Washington drafted Arrington second overall in 2000. He was a three-time Pro Bowler.
