Backup quarterback Rex Grossman has agreed to re-sign with the Redskins.
Grossman, 32, was Washington’s third quarterback last season behind rookies Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins. He did not play and was active for only two games. However, he mentored the rookies, and coaches believed he exuded a valuable veteran presence in positional meetings.
“I’m excited to be back,” Grossman said by phone Wednesday afternoon. “Any time you’re on a positive team with good things going - and I have a lot of fun being in the building and competing in practice and doing all the things that are required - it’s a lot more fun than a lot of places, especially when you’re not playing a lot.”
