RICHMOND—Outside linebacker Brian Orakpo will be available to play Monday night’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers despite bruising his right quadriceps Thursday, coach Mike Shanahan said.

“It’s a day to day process with this,” Orakpo said Friday after practice. He limped as he jogged off the field. “I got a knee to the quad, and it’s just a contusion we’re working with. Once it calms down, we’ll see where we’re at.”

Safety Brandon Meriweather (right knee) does not expect to play Monday. He hopes to play on Aug. 24 against Buffalo. Meriweather practiced with the scout team during team drills this week, significantly more work than he did last week.

Receiver Donte Stallworth (hamstring) and offensive lineman Jacolby Ashworth (ankle) will not play Monday, Shanahan said. Inside linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy (right shoulder) and cornerback Ryan Mouton (hamstring) probably won’t play, Shanahan said.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to play the first half against Pittsburgh. Playing time for others has not been determined yet, partly because some injured players still are being evaluated. Shanahan said.
