Anyone who ever played high school sports remembers the feeling of putting on their uniform. It’s pretty much the best juice ever. Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon had that in mind last Tuesday when he joined with Russell Athletic to provide new uniforms for three local high school football teams.

“Friday night lights, you’re getting dressed up, and just getting prepared to go out and play well,” Garcon said. “You waited for it all week. It was a special, special feeling to put on your high school jersey.”

Garcon traveled to Thomas Jefferson High in Alexandria, Theodore Roosevelt High in the District and Springbrook High in Silver Spring to hand out new uniforms. He visited with kids and posed for pictures.

The day-long tour took Garcon back to his days at Leonard High School in Greenacres, Florida. Back then, he tried for style points by wearing a long-sleeved white compression shirt underneath his jersey.

“That was down in Florida, and it was hot, and still wore my long sleeves,” he said with a laugh.
