NASHVILLE—Redskins tight end Fred Davis showed no signs of last year’s left Achilles tendon injury in his return to game action Thursday. He had two catches for 14 yards and a touchdown in two first-quarter series during Washington’s 22-21 preseason victory over Tennessee.

Davis’ followed his 3-yard touchdown catch with a, um, special celebration. He was penalized 15 yards for going to the ground during it. You can watch it: here.

His explanation was pure Freddie D:

“It was, like, spontaneous,” Davis said. “I don’t know what I was doing. I think I need to put a little more thought into it next time. Yeah. I cost my team a penalty, so it wasn’t a good celebration. I think I spazzed out. That’s what happened. That’s exactly what it was. It was dumb. I cost my team a penalty. I definitely need to come up with a better plan next time.”
