EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Brian Orakpo is inactive and will not play for the Washington Redskins on Sunday when they play their final game of the season against the New York Giants.

The outside linebacker strained his right groin in the fourth quarter of the Redskins’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. He was limited in practice on Tuesday and Friday and sat out of practice entirely on Friday, when he said it would be “miraculous” if he played.

That means Orakpo, who is set to become a free agent when the league year ends in March, could have played in his last game with the Redskins. He’ll finish with 10 sacks and 60 tackles, and he also intercepted a pass for the first time in his five-year career.

Also inactive for the Redskins on Sunday is wide receiver Joshua Morgan, who also is set to become a free agent after the season and could have played his last game for his hometown team. Morgan’s effort in recent games has been questioned by the coaching staff, and there was perhaps no better indication of his lack of motivation than on his 12-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter of the game against the Cowboys, when he leisurely strolled out of bounds.

Fullback Darrel Young, who has been hampered by a strained hamstring for the last six weeks, is active and will play. So, too, will outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who sustained an unspecified wrist injury last week.

Quarterback Robert Griffin III, left guard Josh LeRibeus, cornerback Chase Minnifield, center J.D. Walton and outside linebacker Adrian Robinson, signed Thursday, are also inactive.

Undrafted inside linebacker Will Compton, signed off the practice squad on Tuesday, is active and will make his debut. Outside linebacker Brandon Jenkins, who has played only 23 snaps this season as a rookie and has been inactive for the last seven games, will play.

Wide receiver Victor Cruz, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last week and was shut down for the final two games, is among the Giants’ inactives. Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder), right guards Brandon Mosley (hand) and Eric Herman, middle linebacker Allen Bradford, tight end Adrien Robinson and third quarterback Ryan Nassib are also inactive.
