Redskins co-captain Trent Williams was fined $7,875 by the NFL for shoving Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman in the face after Seattle’s 24-14 playoff win last Sunday. Sherman was not fined.
Williams did a great deal this season to demonstrate maturity a year after being suspended four games for violating the NFL’s drug policy. As far as I’m concerned, the postgame incident Sunday does nothing to undo that work. Williams was available for and accountable to his teammates all season.
Sherman posted on his Twitter account Sunday night that the two apparently had made peace.
“Received a very classy text from @TrentW71. Great player! This is an emotional game no ill will either way. Have a great Pro Bowl! Well deserved,” Sherman tweeted.
