Seahawks coach Pete Carroll blasted the field conditions at FedEx Field Monday during a Seattle radio appearance.
“It was horrible. It’s a horrible field. It’s as bad as a field can get for being dry. It’s too bad. Really It’s too bad,” Carroll said on ESPN 710 in Seattle. “And we deserve better. So I hope something will [happen], for the other teams that got to play there. It just was worn out. There was a lot of slipping and all that kind of stuff.”
On the day Robert Griffin III suffered another right knee injury, Washington Redskins players weren’t thrilled about the field conditions, either. But several justified it as both teams having to play on it.
“It’s relative it didn’t change the game all in my opinion because it was relative [for] both sides,” Carroll told ESPN 710. “We should just expect to see a better field at that time of year.”
Asked about it being worse than Solider Field in Chicago a couple of years ago, Carroll said it was.
“This one was real sheer and there was dirt on top of the grass and all,” he said. “There just wasn’t good footing and you’ve seen some problems there.”
