RICHMOND—Free agent inside linebacker Nick Barnett worked out for the Redskins on Tuesday afternoon.

Washington is seeking to fortify the position because backup Keenan Robinson might miss the season after tearing his left pectoral muscle last Thursday.

Barnett, 32, declined a post-workout interview request, saying he had to go take a shower. “I’m on their schedule right now,” he said. “Hopefully I’ll be here tomorrow, too.”

The 10-year veteran has experience playing inside linebacker in Green Bay’s 3-4 defense, after which the Redskins’ scheme is modeled. He played outside linebacker for Buffalo in each of the last two seasons.

Redskins linebackers coach Bob Slowik led Barnett through several agility drills. Redskins director of player personnel Scott Campbell, director of pro personnel Morocco Brown and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett were among the onlookers.

Barnett briefly spoke to Brown and Haslett on the field after the workout.
