The Redskins on Friday signed cornerback David Amerson and safety Phillip Thomas, two draft picks the team expects to positively impact the secondary as rookies.
Amerson was the 51st overall draft pick. He had 13 interceptions at NC State in 2011 but admittedly surrendered too many big plays last season.
Thomas, a fourth-rounder from Fresno State, played strong safety during rookie camp earlier this month but has collegiate experience at free safety.
Rookie contracts are for four seasons under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement.
Third-round tight end Jordan Reed is Washington’s only unsigned draft pick.
The Redskins’ first of 10 voluntary organized team activities (spring practices) begins Monday.
