The Redskins signed seven more undrafted free agents Thursday, bringing their total to 12 ahead of the club’s three-day rookie camp that begins Friday.

Washington now has 85 players on its active roster, leaving five empty spots. None of the Redskins’ seven draft picks has signed.

Coach Mike Shanahan in his three seasons with the team has proven he is willing to include undrafted rookies on the final 53-man roster.

Tight end Logan Paulsen made the team in 2010 and started 10 games last season, benefitting from first-string tight end Fred Davis’ left Achilles’ tendon tear. Former Redskins tackle Willie Smith in 2011 started three games and played in four.

The seven undrafted rookies signed Thursday are:

Offensive tackle Xavier Nixon of Florida, inside linebackers Will Compton of Nebraska and Jeremy Kimbrough of Appalachian State, Troy offensive lineman Kyle Wilborn, Houston guard Jacolby Ashworth, Texas Christian receiver Skye Dawson and Georgia State tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi.
