The Redskins on Tuesday signed free agent center Kevin Matthews. He’s the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame center Bruce Matthews, who was his position coach for the last two seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Matthews (6-3, 302) played in 17 games, starting three, with the Titans. He started twice last season. He entered the NFL in 2010 as a college free agent out of Texas A&M.
Will Montgomery is the Redskins’ first-string center.
To make room for Matthews, the Redskins released Kyle Wilborn. Wilborn signed with the Redskins as a college free agent out of Troy last week. He attended rookie camp over the weekend.
