The Washington Redskins suddenly have a question mark at kicker this weekend.
Kai Forbath has a groin injury, according to Redskins coach Mike Shanahan. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at the Green Bay Packers.
“[On Thursday, Forbath] said his groin was a little bit sore,” Shanahan said. “He got a little treatment. They didn’t think it was anything, but a little bit more sore today. That’s why we have him listed as questionable.”
Shanahan said that after Forbath completed treatment on Friday, the team will work him out again on Saturday.
“Usually when it’s a groin, it’s a swing so it doesn’t matter if he’s kicking a 50-yard field goal or an extra point,” Shanahan said. “Not a whole lot of difference. You’ve got to feel comfortable with his leg.”
Shanahan called John Potter, the only other kicker in training camp with the team before being cut, a candidate to fill in, if necessary.
“We just know where he’s at,” Shanahan joked about Potter. “He may be in Hawaii, I don’t know. if you find out though, let me know.”
The Redskins must submit their official roster for the Packers game to the NFL by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
