The Washington Redskins will be without kicker Kai Forbath for today’s game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Forbath sustained a groin injury late in the week and the Redskins signed John Potter, who will kick instead. Forbath is one of seven inactive players for the Green Bay game: Third-string quarterback Rex Grossman, running back Evan Royster, safety Jordan Pugh, safety Jose Gumbs, offensive guard Josh LeRibeus and nose tackle Chris Neild.
Washington waived fourth-string quarterback Pat White on Saturday to make room for Potter, who has appeared in six NFL games and never attempted a field goal. He has been a field-goal specialist.
With Pugh sitting, that means Brandon Meriweather is ready to start for the first time since tearing an ACL last Nov. 18. He played in the preseason finale against Tampa Bay on Aug. 29, a groin injury kept him out of the season opener last Monday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
