Redskins injury updates - Fri., Aug. 16

Outside linebacker Brian Orakpo will be available to play Monday night's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers despite bruising his right quadriceps Thursday. Safety Brandon Meriweather (right knee) does not expect to play Monday.

Redskins GM Bruce Allen: No controversy between RG3 & Mike Shanahan

Griffin explained on Monday he does not understand why Shanahan’s plan includes a predetermined timetable that does not account for any personal progress that enables him to return faster. RG3's comeback advances with return to team drills

Robert Griffin III completed 7 of 10 passes on 16 snaps with the first-string offense against an 11-man scout team defense during Washington Redskins practice Wednesday afternoon. It was the first time Griffin faced a full defense since he aggravated his right knee injury in the Redskins’ playoff loss last Jan. 6.

Thunderstorm provides extra rest for banged up Redskins

Coach Mike Shanahan didn't mind canceling Saturday's practice after a severe thunderstorm drenched the team's training center shortly before the scheduled 2 p.m. start. The Redskins collectively are banged up after Thursday night's 22-21 preseason win over Tennessee.
