Washington Redskins fans who expected to take shuttles to FedEx Field from the Landover metro station will have to plan a different route for this upcoming season.

Because of new federal regulations against leasing buses to the team, there will no longer be shuttle service from the orange line station to the stadium for Redskins’ home games. The Redskins applied for a year-long waiver of the new rule but were denied.

“Unable to continue our partnership with Metro, we had numerous discussions with a variety of transportation companies, only to find the best private transportation option would increase the fan shuttle fare from $6 to nearly $20,” Chief Operating Officer Mitch Gershman said.

The team will continue to supply free shuttles from cash parking lots, and recommends fans that travel via Metro to exit at the Morgan Boulevard station on the blue line and walk to the stadium.
