On the second day of the off-season, not a lot went on at Redskin Park to this observer’s eye. The coaches meet until tomorrow before a week-and-a-half off. Jim Zorn said they will be given the option of attending the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. Zorn will make the trip.
A couple of quick hitters:
*Secondary coach Jerry Gray was in the building. A league source confirmed yesterday that Gray will interview for the Detroit head coaching opening. Gray ackowledged two reporters from the lobby today but declined to comment. A team source said Detroit officials are expected to interview Gray in northern Virginia instead of Gray traveling to Detroit.
*Jason Campbell met with Zorn for more than an hour today. He’ll celebrate his 27th birthday tomorrow by starting a vacation at a very nice location.
*Jason Taylor’s golf clubs sat in the entry way to Redskin Park, ready to be shipped back to Florida. There’s got to be a punchline there somewhere.
*It won’t make my notes tomorrow but I chatted quickly with Colt Brennan yesterday. He’s due for knee surgery on his meniscus. Although Jim Zorn seems to be inclined to bring back Todd Collins as Campbell’s back up, Brennan will get another good look in the preseason. “I think I established myself as far as my position on this team,” Colt said. “I think I did some good things with the scout team and basically, I think people respect what I was able to do. I’m interested to see what I can offer in the future.”
