The Redskins did end up ending a little early because of the weather. Team officials were shooing fans away shortly before 9:40 and the team called it a morning just after 10. Here are some notes from Jim Zorn’s media availability:

* Clinton Portis stepped on someone else’s foot and turned his ankle, but he is expected to be fine. Zorn did mention that Portis is not likely to play against the Colts in the team’s first preseason game.

* London Fletcher is with his wife, who is expected to give birth to their second child very soon.

* Jason Taylor went through all the individual drills, but was held out of the 11-on-11 stuff near the end of the practice. Taylor said he picked No. 55 because he likes double numbers (he wore 33 at Akron and 55 in the Senior Bowl, which he was named MVP in). It was also noted that brother-in-law Zach Thomas will also be wearing No. 55 this year for the Cowboys. He was still wearing orange cletes, but he said Nike will have Redskins-themed ones for him soon. If it wasn’t apparent which brand of athletic clothing Taylor endorses, his all-Jordan outfit after practice made that clear.

* Zorn said the team will be back in pads this afternoon, weather permitting, and will begin with what they didn’t finish in the morning.
