A game of numbers

The Redskins, despite changing their head coach and both coordinators, like to talk about continuity in the organization. And indeed, the only regular missing from last season is safety Sean Taylor, who was murdered last November.

However, there’s plenty of churn at the bottom of the 80-man roster. Of the 33 draft picks, rookie free agents and those with NFL experience (i.e., they had been in a camp before) who were profiled in last summer’s media guide, only nine have survived to return this year.

Those nine are defensive tackle Lorenzo Alexander, linebacker H.B. Blades, fullback Nehemiah Broughton, offensive tackle Stephon Heyer, safety LaRon Landry, running back Marcus Mason, cornerbacks Leigh Torrence and Byron Westbrook and defensive end Chris Wilson.
