It happened two years ago when the Redskins reacted to Clinton Portis’ preseason injury by trading for T.J. Duckett. And it happened Tuesday when the Redskins reacted to Ladell Betts’ injury by signing Shaun Alexander. Rock Cartwright remains the No. 3 back … and he’s not surprised.

“It is what it is. I guess I cant get the job done,” he said in the locker room last hour. “Ill take it with a grain of salt and keep preparing like I have been. This is two times in three years this has happened so I kind of figured I would. “Ill try to do my thing on special teams like I have been.”
