Samuels, Portis will play

Neither Pro Bowl left tackle Chris Samuels and NFL rushing leader Clinton Portis practiced today, but coach Jim Zorn said that both will play Sunday against Cleveland. Zorn is less sure about offensive tackle Stephon Heyer, who hasn’t taken a snap on offense since spraining his left shoulder on Sept. 21 against Arizona. Heyer filled in for Samuels during practice today, but Jon Jansen will probably make a fourth straight start on the right side against the Browns. Zorn also isn’t sure if rookie Chris Horton, who sprained an ankle last Sunday against St. Louis, will be ready to go at strong safety this week. That would leave the spot to little-used rookie Kareem Moore or newly-signed veteran Mike Green unless defensive coordinator Greg Blache gambles and moves cornerback Shawn Springs to safety.
