After drafting Wake Forest’s Aaron Curry fourth overall on Saturday, Seattle revoked the franchise tag from fellow outside linebacker Leroy Hill, making the 4-year starter a free agent. Hill had refused to sign the one-year, $8.3 million tender.
The Redskins can’t afford anything close to that salary, but since Jim Zorn was in Seattle with Hill from 2005-07 and they need a linebacker, the 26-year-old Clemson product could start in Washington in 2010.
The undersized H.B. Blades and the oft-released Robert Thomas are the Redskins’ current top alternatives at the position vacated by the release of 5-year starter Marcus Washington.
