The only surprising thing about today’s development is that it took more than two weeks of training camp.

Starting with today’s second practice (at 3 p.m.), media — except for the Redskins blogger and, likely, the team’s radio sation — will be prohibited from posting Tweets on their Twitter accounts from the practice field.

The team’s rationale? Other than wanting to control the message, don’t know. There wasn’t any kind of major breach on the media’s Twitter accounts.

We are allowed to bring our phones to practice but if we are to take a call, we have to be out of sight. I guess I’ll just crawl into the woods behind the field.

The team blogger posts several times a practice so that will remain the same. ESPN 980 will also be allowed to Tweet. That shouldn’t be a problem. The station hasn’t had an reporter present at either Saturday practice or this morning’s session.
